As MKT-Street2School we believe in the power of Shaam Dhan, which means “return back to…“ and it concerns children, women, communities. As Organization we request to all our beneficiaries to contribute to the wellbeing of the group of people who wants to become responsible, autonomous and reliable.

BACK TO THE ROOTS

We can call it a part of “Character Development” in the early years, helps build strengths like Honesty, Responsibility, Fairness, and Compassion – internal assets that lead to happiness and well-being of children. They must connect with their past – get “back to their roots”, & contribute in uplifting those who are left behind.
In South Africa there’s a similar concept called “Ubuntu”.
These are the kinds of human qualities that foster responsible citizens, children who grow up to donate to food drives, recycle their trash, or help during a crisis. This request is mandatory for all children supported in the Street2School program.

BACK TO THE GROUP

Groups of women supported under the Street2School program and who meet spontaneously or not in committees are asked to contribute jointly to their group. This practice, which is already present in many Self-Help Groups, aims to increase the spirit of belonging, solidarity and sustainability.
By putting part of the money collected through the Women4Change work tools into the “common fund”, the women of the group can increase the solidarity activities that bind them and which focus on certain aspects:

BACK TO THE GROUP
  • Cash fund management
  • Interest-free loans to members of the group
  • Health aid initiatives in one’s own village of origin
  • Other emergency activities
  • Problems related to the education of their children

BACK TO THE COMMUNITY

As part of the Street2School programs aimed at community support, the emphasis is always marked on the theme of sustainability. Whether it is addressed to good food practices, to give work tools to women, to improve the education of children and young people, the goal of these activities is always focused on pursuing sustainable objectives on the one hand and helping one’s community on the other. The effort in terms of philosophy of action and expected results is in line with increasing the social value of one’s action in terms of “returning” to the community what has been received, in the full tradition of giving what has been received in terms of education, respect and belonging.
